Does Lisinopril Cause Hair Loss?

My dad has recently had an heart attack and is now taking Lisinopril. A friend of mine told me that one of the possible side effects of lisinopril is hair loss. Does lisinopril cause hair loss? (He’s always had a thick, full hair).

Studies have shown that losing hair is a very uncommon side effect of Lisinopril, so no, it isn’t specifically connected to hair loss.

However, if your dad is experiencing hair loss he can consult his doctor who might switch him to a different drug.

I know a couple of people who have been treated with Lisinopril for long periods of time (over 6 months) and haven’t suffered from hair loss. So I would not worry about it, unless there are actual signs indicating otherwise.
