Coffee and Hair Loss

coffee and hair loss

I usually drink 2 cups of coffee a day, but lately I had a lot of pressure at work and I’ve started to drink 4, maybe 5 cups a day.

Is there a connection between coffee and hair loss that might cause me to lose my hair because I drink too much coffee?

  1. Emma Says:

Coffee and hair loss are not directly connected.

There are even some studies claiming that applying caffeine topically on the scalp might prevent hair loss.

However, coffee and hair loss could be indirectly connected, because caffeine can raise the body’s stress levels and stress is a known cause of hair loss.

Drinking coffee in moderation will not cause hair loss.

However, some side effects of drinking too much coffee (5-6 cups a day is considered “too much” for most people) might trigger hair loss.

Too much caffeine on a daily basis might increase stress and anxiety levels, causing more hair than usual to fall out.
