I am suffering from Psoriasis in the scalp area, I have thick flakes of skin and my hair is thinning rapidly. Can Psoriasis cause hair loss? What can I do to prevent it?

    Psoriasis can cause hair loss if left untreated. Hair loss due to psoriasis is temporary in nature.

    Hair loss is the initial symptom of psoriasis, and hair will usually grow back when the ailment clears up. However, when the hair follicles are seriously damaged, it may cause a permanent hair loss. It is very important to refrain from scratching any scabs because this could lead to permanent hair loss.

    Patients with psoriasis should use shampoos that contain salicylic acid or coal of tar. For mild cases of psoriasis, topical creams, lotions, and sprays can be effective. It is also helpful to inject a small local injection of steroids directly into a resistant isolated psoriasis.
