Brewers Yeast and Hair Loss

Can taking brewers yeast prevent hair loss?
I know that there is some connection between nutritional / brewers yeast and hair loss – But can it really help?

In some hair loss cases, taking brewers yeast regularly can help the condition and prevent hair loss. The reason for this being, that brewers yeast contains certain vitamins and minerals, that the body needs for proper hair growth.

If hair loss is caused by a lack of those, brewers yeast can help. The way to find out is to run some blood tests and see the levels of zinc and vitamin B.

Yes, taking brewers yeast and hair loss might be related, as long as hair loss is not caused by a genetic factor (in that case brewers yeast cannot help).

Brewers yeast (or more accurately nutritional yeast) is rich in zinc and vitamin Bs (including riboflavin, niacin and folic acid) which are important factors in keeping hair (and skin) strong and healthy.

Brewers yeast is known to have many positive effects on both hair and nail growth. It can prevent breakage as well as make hair look healthier.

It is important to know, though, that brewers yeast cannot remedy all types of hair loss cases.

One of the main reasons brewers yeast was reported to help hair loss is because it is rich in biotin (from the Vitamin B family group). People who suffer from biotin deficiency are likely to suffer from dry skin, brittle hair and broken finger nails.

However, if you are not suffering from a deficiency in biotin, and it is not one of the reasons that you are losing hair, then there is chance that brewers yeast will not help.

In any case, there is no harm in trying to take brewers yeast supplment and monitoring the effects it has on your hair.
